A new 130-seat restaurant brings wood-fired Italian cooking, signature cocktails and a sophisticated beachside atmosphere to Henley Beach, Adelaide.

There is something about dining by the coast that calls for a slower pace, a good cocktail and a table filled with beautiful food. At Jasmine’s, the latest addition to Adelaide’s Henley Beach dining scene, that feeling is at the heart of the experience.

Opened by family-owned Chahoud Group, Jasmine’s transforms the former HNLY site into a 130-seat restaurant that brings together Italian-inspired dining, Mediterranean influences and a distinctly Australian beachside sensibility. Designed for long lunches that roll into sunset drinks and intimate dinners after dark, it offers a fresh take on coastal hospitality.

A Warm Welcome by the Water

Located along bustling Seaview Road, Jasmine’s makes an impression before guests even reach the dining room. A staircase leads diners past a charcoal firepit and an impressive four-tonne custom-built pizza oven, setting the scene for a menu where fire and flavour take centre stage.

The interiors, designed by 2049, move away from the former venue’s whitewashed aesthetic in favour of rich neutral tones, timber finishes, marble tables and long banquette seating. A striking timber-panelled ceiling adds warmth, while a mirrored feature wall brings a more contemporary edge to the space.

Natural light fills the restaurant throughout the day, complemented by the coastal breeze and a bespoke jasmine fragrance. Outside, the wraparound deck remains a highlight, offering views across one of Adelaide’s most loved coastlines.

As the sun sets, the atmosphere shifts. Softer lighting and fabric-shaded fittings create a more intimate setting, making Jasmine’s equally suited to a relaxed afternoon by the beach or a dressed-up evening out.

Italian Flavours, With a Mediterranean Twist

Leading the culinary direction is Melbourne chef Jimmy Garside, known for his work at Julietta and Mamasita. His menu draws on Italian traditions while incorporating broader Mediterranean influences, with the charcoal fire and wood-fired oven playing a central role.

The meal begins with shareable plates such as wood-fired flatbread, burrata and tuna crudo, before moving into dishes designed to make the most of the open-fire cooking.

Grilled prawns arrive with nduja butter and lemon, while char-grilled steak is paired with baharat and cipollini onions. The pork tomahawk, served with agrodolce and cavolo nero, adds another hearty option to the fire-led selection.

Pasta lovers can choose from Italian favourites, including wagyu beef and ox cheek ragù, cacio e pepe and roast chicken moghrabieh, which brings a distinctive Mediterranean touch to the menu.

Then there is the pizza. Made in a classic Italian style with a thick, generous crust, the selection ranges from calabrese to prawn, alongside a mortadella and pistachio combination with a white sauce base. All pizzas are available for takeaway, making it easy to bring a little of Jasmine’s back to the beach.

Cocktails, Golden Hour and a Sweet Finish

At Jasmine’s, drinks are very much part of the occasion. Co-owner Manoel Eskanian’s signature cocktails include Jasmine’s Negroni and an Ibisco Limoncello Spritz, both well suited to an afternoon on the wraparound deck.

Whether it is a pre-dinner drink as the coastline turns golden or a leisurely cocktail that stretches into the evening, the outdoor setting offers a natural meeting point between the restaurant and its beachside surroundings.

Dessert brings one final flourish. Jasmine’s signature chocolate mousse is served with a touch of silver-service theatre, arriving via a roving dessert trolley. It is an old-school dining detail that adds personality to the experience and gives guests a reason to save room for the final course.

A New Chapter for Henley Beach

For Chahoud Group chief executive Jared Chahoud, the vision extends beyond the food and interiors. The restaurant takes its name from the jasmine flower, chosen for its association with warm hospitality.

The intention is to create a welcoming neighbourhood destination for everyone, from beachgoers arriving in casual summer attire to diners looking for a more polished lunch or dinner.

With its combination of fire-led cooking, generous Italian flavours, thoughtful design and a location that embraces Adelaide’s coastal lifestyle, Jasmine’s brings a new energy to Henley Beach.

As summer approaches, it is a promising addition for those who believe the best dining experiences are about more than what is on the plate. They are about the setting, the company and having every reason to stay a little longer.
